A mobius strip or band is a surface with only one band and one boundary, creating a single edge across its structure. With this project we were challenged to create our own mobius structure with paper squares. We were only allowed one cut, and then were tasked with folding or twistng the material to form a loop. After creating an interesting mobius shape, I used AutoCAD to create a proven model of my design. This consisted of dividing my square into smaller squares and diagonals until it lined up with the cut I made, the red lines represent the cuts made by me. We then had to recreate our mobius with paper again, but this time we were allowed to modify it with a second cut. After this, we went back into AutoCAD to produce another doven model once again. There were a lot of things to consider when approaching this project like creating a dynamic and interesting design, that was still able to stand on its own. The placement of the second cut also took lots of consideration in terms of when it would place best to create a the cohesive look I was going for. |
