| This purpose of this project was to create a open 6-sided container out of paper that would later be laser-cut into wood. Abstraction was an important part of this assignment. We were given 6 4x4 pieces of paper to cut and manipulate to create a dynamic box shape. In was important to make sure the container had a sturdy base but could only stand on one side. It was difficult to create a sturdy shape that also reflected an open-sided design. After cutting and putting together a unique shape, we then recreated our designs in AutoCAD so they could be sent off the laser cutter. It was important to measure the cuts exactly so that the container could be recreated with the wood pieces. |
