Design Fundamentals

a bit about me

Hello creatures of the internet!

My name is Kate Snyder and I am an International Studies major on the development track and an Art on the graphic design track double major at the University of Iowa. I am in my first year at Iowa, and therefore I enrolled in Design Fundamentals to kickstart my art education. I am constantly inspired by color, nature, political activism, and music. I despise *almost* every serif font and love italics. As a first year, I am still cultivating my own design style but there are several recurring motifs in my artwork. I love to create leaf patters, draw portraits, and use the color orange any time possible.

Design fundamentals has taught me several core principles of design including gestalt and color theory. I am now able to apply visual principles to my designs that make them more visually interesting and appealing. Design Fundamentals has also taught me how to use new programs such as AutoCAD and Dreamweaver while also allowing me to refine my Adobe illustrator skills.
