We created a pavilion using 3DS Max meant emulate already designed pavilions in terms of uniqueness and functionality within a space. The parameters of the assignment outlined that the pavilion is meant to be a reasonable size relative to its environment, create an impression on the viewer, and have a clear function. I wanted to create a simple and functional pavilion that fit well on a grassy hill. My pavilion consists of four concrete cylindrical slabs with the top two being supported by a series of wooden posts. The pavilion features a small garden complete with a windowless sky-light, two separate sets of curved benches, and one table. On each side there is a small rectangular step meant to help those who would use it. After we finished our pavilions, we focused on creating renders in 3DS Max using an image we sourced from the internet. I learned that creating a pavilion is a lot more complex than I originally thought and I enjoyed seeing the finished product through the renders. |
