The Color Theory assignment was done in Adobe Illustrator and was comprised of five square artboards on which we had to create a composition that reflected each of the five important aspects of Color Theory. The goal was to remain abstract while still creating a sense of movement within each respective artboard using shapes that were filled with a solid color. The five aspects that were represented in separate boards were: complementary colors, two types of analogous relationships (one warm and the other cool), primary colors, and the achromatic spectrum. For the complementary color relationship, we had to choose a pair of complementary colors and use five different values of the chroma. The analogous relationships used a minimum of seven shapes (each with different hues) and a background featuring one of the colors in the analogous relationship. For the primary color composition, we needed to use one of the primary colors for the background and the other two colors we had to use at least seven shapes to gradually change from one primary color to the other. Lastly, for the achromatic composition we had to use seven different values of gray and full white and full black. I really enjoyed getting to use color and exploring the relationships between many different colors. The limitations once again helped me to learn more because I needed to think more deeply about how I wanted to approach and execute each composition. |
