The container project, similar to the mobius project, started out with making cuts in paper. We had to make cuts on a minimum of six squares of paper that could be fit together to form an abstract 3D piece. The container, if created correctly, was meant to only be able to stand on one side. After we completed the paper model, we used AutoCAD to duplicate the cuts in a way that the laser cutter could read. The pieces were laser cut from wood and we assembled them to match our paper model. Once assembled, we photographed our finished container from three perspectives and edited them in Adobe Photoshop. I really enjoyed having the opportunity to create a simple abstract puzzle that also functions as a small sculpture. |
