Typography

This project focuses on using five letters from my first name in different typeface to experience difference in letter's sizes, styles and placements. These compositions were all created in Adobe Illustrator. In this project, I experienced different typeface, fonts, type styles, type sizes, and uppercase or lowercase letters. This project helped me to better understand the magic of typeface.

In the first four compositions, I created abstract images in which somehow you can see human faces, but not exactly human faces. These compositions can be viewed as monsters, or strange cartoon characters. Everyone can have different ideas. For example, one of my friends said he could view the third image as a person facing the sky and laughing. In the fifth composition, I created something abstract. I want it to express some elements, such as fire, prison and escape. I enjoyed playing with those letters.

When I was in high school, I changed a typeface by combining letters with my high schools' logo to celebrate its anniversary. It was the first time I explored letters' typeface, and now I cannot stop.
