The first project that we had to do was the Gestalt project. In this project we had to make 7 different designs of Gestalt with only nine squares. The designs are the following:
Foreground, Midground, Background: The inspiration of this was basically pillars in different parts of a building
Figure/Ground Relationship: This is where two shapes can be made out by changing the surface. The white surface creates a T and the black surface creates a bridge.
Similarity: This is where someone can notice a difference clearly. In this case it's the middle square that's rotated.
Proximity: This is where a group of shapes can create a specific shape in a spatial place. In this case the three squares in the cornors are not part of the group, and in the middle of the paper, we have group of shapes that create a pyramid.
Closure: This is where a shape can be created, even though the shapes are not connected, in this case since I had nine square, I created the number 9.
Continuation: This is where the human eye is carries smoothly over a line or a curve without any disturbances.
Symmentry: This is where the shape has a symmetrical relationship, as in it's the same no matter where you "cut" it.
This was made by using Adobe Illustrator.
