Slip Models @ University of Iowa
Slip models derived from InSAR, GPS, pixel tracking, or a combination of the three. The models are available in a Matlab .mat and ASCI .txt format. For events with no published reference, the general processing methodology is described in Barnhart & Lohman 2010, Barnhart et al. 2013, and Barnhart et al. 2014. Users of these models, published and unpublished, do so at their own risk.
Format Description:
Matlab .mat files include the following variables in the structure “model”: patchstruct, slip, rakeType, rake, zone, and a file descriptor. zone is the UTM zone so locations can be translated to Lon/Lat. For questions about rake conventions, email me. .txt files include fault patch coordinates and slip values in lon/lat/depth (km) which can be plotted in GMT or used for other purposes. To plot a slip distribution in Matlab, execute:
load filename.mat
patchstruct = model.patchstruct;
slip = model.slip;
figure
patch([patchstruct.xfault],[patchstruct.yfault],[patchstruct.zfault],slip(1:length(patchstruct))’)
axis image
set(gca,‘zdir’,‘reverse’)
