Welcome to the lab web pages of Jonathan Adrain, a paleontologist at the University of Iowa interested in trilobites, diversity through time, major biotic events, quantitative paleoecology, phylogenetic systematics, the evolution of development, and a bunch of other things. Our lab group is strongly specimen- and field-based, with a focus on secondarily silicified fossils freed from carbonate rocks by acid dissolution. There are opportunities for student involvement at all levels, from undergraduate research fellowships and senior theses, to MS and PhD scale projects.
