Hi, I am Enes Yıldırım. I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from Cumhuriyet University, Turkey. In August 2017, I earned my master's degree in Hydraulics and Water Resources at the University of Iowa under the supervision of Professor Ibrahim Demir. I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Water Resources at the University of Iowa and will be graduating in the Summer of 2022.

Research

My research focuses on Hydroinformatics, Natural Hazards, and Geoscience topics, specifically conducting flood vulnerability and risk analysis, developing flood disaster information systems, spatial data visualization, spatial databases, and GIS applications developments. I am experienced in GIS frameworks (ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcMap, ArcSDE, QGIS, PostGIS), databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server), scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, HTML, PHP), and mapping APIs (Google Map JS API, ArcGIS JS API). I am also familiar with hydrological processes and flood mapping.

Collaboration

I worked on several projects involving many university and government institutions. I contributed to web-based information systems. I contributed to web-based information systems IIHR - Hydrocience & Engineering and Iowa Flood Center. I conducted flood risk and vulnerability assessments for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District and Iowa Watershed Approach. I created visualization and data analytics system for the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Managment Department. Currently I am working for Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

Outreach

I attended various outreach events to present my research and represent my institutions in community events. These events include legislator meetings, science, and technology fairs, and K-12 school presentations. I've also been serving on the organization committee at the HackUIowa hackathon event at the University of Iowa for the past five years.
