Defined Complications:


1. Superficial incisional wound infection

2. Deep incisional wound infection

3. Organ space infection

4. Dehiscence

5. Postoperative pneumonia

6. Unplanned reintubation

7. Failure to wean from ventilator in 48 hours

8. Acute kidney injury not requiring dialysis

9. Overt renal failure requiring dialysis

10. Urinary tract infection

11. Stroke

12. Coma >24 hours

13. Peripheral nerve injury

14. Cardiac arrest

15. Myocardial infarction

16. Bleeding complication requiring more than 4 total units of PRBCs transfused intra- and post-operatively

17. Graft or prosthesis failure

18. DVT

19. Pulmonary Embolism

20. Sepsis

21. Septic shock
