Secretary Elect Bio Statements

Jeri L. Goodman is a Doctoral Candidate (expected EdD in June 2005), at the University of Cincinnati.  Jeri states, "I am currently coordinating a grant the Counseling program has with Cincinnati Public Schools.  We have counselors and interns in three schools that were identified by CPS as being schools at risk with poor performance on state proficiency scores and in difficult urban settings.  I have performed there as a mental health counselor in a school setting, while obtaining internship hours towards my school license.  My dissertation is about an ecological counseling exploration of urban teachers and what makes them able to perform in such challenging settings.  My intention is to inform career counselors and school counselors about teaching careers and what is necessary to support teachers in urban settings.  My graduate work has included extensive work in group specializations, including research with a Biology professor who likes to use small group work in his Honors classes.  I am currently writing a book with Dr. Robert Conyne and Mark Newmeyer, another doctoral candidate, on Group Techniques using a new model.  I intend to pursue a career as a Counselor Educator and would be happy and honored to serve  NCACES in some capacity."
