The Riverfront Club at the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio was the venue for the 2003 NCACES Awards Presentation. The site provided a spectacular view of Cincinnati, and most agreed that the locale for the awards reception was most fitting for the recognition of award recipients. For those who made nominations, thank you for making the investment to recognize the work of your colleagues, students, and programs in the North Central region. I encourage each of you to continue supporting the awards process in subsequent years. Recognition of efforts from one’s peers and mentors is a professionally validating experience. Although many NCACES members are contributing to the profession through scholarship, teaching, and service, we do not always know of one another’s accomplishments. Thus, the awards process provides an opportunity to inform the masses of the fine work in which many scholars are engaging. More award categories exist than are reflected in this year’s recipients. Please take a moment to look at the NCACES website, specifically the section on awards. Review the various award categories, and begin consideration of eligible candidates who you may wish to nominate for this year. The integrity of the awards process is largely contingent upon member participation in the nomination process. Following is a list of the award recipients at the 2003 NCACES Conference in Cincinnati:
