The Moon

quivers in Orion's sights.  The thin
        clouds disappear.  While Venus
splashes in the waves, the night's skin
        tenses between us

        on this empty beach
that shudders in the swelling tide
        where stars float within reach.
We huddle in the dunes, wide-eyed

at the dark surf and the rise
of the crescent moon, her lips glistening.
All of nature whispers with surprise.
Can you hear it?  Are you listening?

        Feel the moon's ancient pull.
Don't you want to see it full?
