The book is designed in large, landscape format (8 x 20 inches). The cliché verres were created by drawing and painting on a clear film surface with ink and paint, using a variety of mark-making techniques. These "negatives" were then printed on Kodak Ektalure G paper. The images are mounted on archival museum board, hinged with cloth and bound in a cloth and hand decorated Fabriano Ingres paper binding designed and constructed by Penny McKean. the title page and introduction, designed and executed by Don Howell, are hand set in Spectrum type, printed on L'Amatruda paper and hand sewn to the hinged text block.

Each book is protected by a drop-spine box, also bound in a cloth spine with hand decorated sides. Design features of the drop-spine box facilitate viewing the book while it rests in the box's open trays.

Agios is limited to thirty numbered copies, signed by the artist and poet. An edition of inkjet prints of the cliché verre images from the book is also available in exhibition format, 11 x 40.
