Shinkai 6500 Diving, August 2006

Our second dive cruise of the RV Yokosuka/Shinkai 6500 took place from late August to early September, 2006 in the Mariana fore-arc southeast of Guam. Yas Ohara and I were the co-chief scientists for this cruise. Other participants included: B. Blake, S. Bloomer, P. Fryer, J. Hawkins, T. Ishii, O. Ishizuka, K. Kelley, J-I. Kimura, K. Michibayashi, and R. Stern. Our principal discoveries included low-Ca boninites underlain by basalts with close affinities to MORB or BAB.
