Modeling COVID-19 in Iowa

The COVID-19 web app designed to interactively evaluate the effects of nonpharmaceutical interventions on COVID-19 cases, deaths, and healthcare utilization in Iowa is no longer maintained.

While our interactive app is no longer available, you can still visualize the effects of the nonpharmaceutical interventions of face coverings and quarantining through the animation below. This animation shows the expected number of daily deaths through the end of April in Iowa under the following scenarios:

• No mitigation measures (red)
• Implementing the observed level of quarantining (i.e., lockdown) (yellow)
• State-wide face covering mandate without lockdown (green)
• Implementing both a lockdown and a state-wide face covering mandate (blue).

While this is retrospective, it still provides valuable information in moving forward with COVID-19 continuing to percolate through the state.
