Manipulated Negatives 2007 Gelatin-Silver Prints on Fiber-Based paper 8x10 in. each |
Whenever one presents a photograph, the viewer can recognize familiar elements and sceneries that can bring memories, personal stories, impressions or just pure visual delight. The familiarity of shapes and arrangements with our 3D space trapped in that 2D frame allows a conversation between our brain and the image, enabling us to have our interpretation. In this series of images, I intended to explore how we would reinterpret familiar images of everyday life. The negative was manipulated by folding the roll in random places, creating different focal lengths and an unfamiliar image to the viewer, who is then asked to repiece the image together to remember its place and its time. |
