The University of Iowa Libraries Seminars on Historical Research Fall 2004

The Libraries will offer three seminars during Fall Semester, open free of charge to all researchers. Those with an interest in primary historical sources may be particularly interested.

Note: A brochure with brief descriptions of all three seminars for 2004 is available.

• Tools for Accessing Primary Historical Sources   September 10, 2004  2:30–4:30 p.m. Focuses on tools for identifying and locating distant or local primary sources of particular interest to the researcher, mostly in paper or microformat. Held in the Information Arcade Classroom (Main Library 1st floor, northwest).
• Electronic Resources for Historical Research  October 8, 2004  2:30–4:30 p.m. Offers an overview, with an emphasis on web-accessible, full-text primary sources. Held in the Information Arcade Classroom (Main Library 1st floor, northwest).
• Historical Collections in the Iowa City Area   November 12, 2004  2:30–4:30 p.m. Broaches the wealth of materials available at the University of Iowa Libraries, the State Historical Society of Iowa in Iowa City, and the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library in West Branch. Held in the Library Conference Room (Main Library, 2nd floor, southeast).

  Attendees must register in advance. For registration forms click on the links below. Each form is a PDF file suitable for printing, and includes directions for returning the registration portion by campus mail.
