is the most likely primary tumor site*

* Based on Sherman et al., "Gene expression accurately distinguishes liver metastases of small bowel and pancreas neuroendocrine tumors."
The NET Metastasis calculator has also been incorporated into an algorithm using immunohistochemistry and gene expression to determine primary NET tumor site. See Maxwell et al., "A practical method to determine the site of unknown primary in metastatic neuroendocrine tumors."

Welcome to the University of Iowa Neuroendocrine Metastasis Calculator.

The purpose of the calculator is to determine the likely primary site of a neuroendocrine cancer based on gene expression in metastatic tissue, such as might be obtained from a biopsy of a liver metastasis.
The calculator is investigational and intended for research purposes only.

Instructions:

Samples should be preserved and prepared, and qPCR performed as described in the accompanying publication. (Link to publication).
Gene expression is entered as a mean Ct. If dCTs have already been calculated using GAPDH and POLR2A as internal controls, enter 0 for GAPDH and POLR2A mean Ct and then enter dCTs for the other genes instead of mean Ct.
The calculator only applies to samples clinically suspected of arising from a small bowel or pancreatic primary.
