Course Requirements and Expectations

Students can assume that class sessions and assignments will include regular written homeworks and quizzes. Policy on absences:  Since class participation is important, students who miss more than two classes may seriously jeopardize their grades. Students who miss class should inform the instructor beforehand whenever possible, and are responsible for course content, for turning in any required homework, and for making up any missed tests or quizzes.

Evaluation

Grades will be based on: Attendance and general participation (25%); quizzes (25%), daily homework (25%), and final exam (25%).

Schedule

The textbook by Dr Goldman is meant to be read over one year (two semesters) which means that we will be studying and working on one chapter every week of this semester. Every week we will be studying the chapter in the class. Homework and quizzes based on that chapter will be assigned to you as well. Every Friday, exercise of that one chapter is due as the homework and every Thursday vocabulary from that chapter will be tested in the quiz. Other quizzes will include noun, pronoun and verb charts. All homeworks and quizzes are graded.
