Performance Choreography and Teaching ICA Dance Scholarship
Dear Prospective Student:

I am delighted that you are considering a Dance major at The University of Iowa. The University of Iowa is a first-class university with a strong emphasis in liberal arts. It offers excellent studies in the fine and performing arts as well as stimulating resources in intellectual, cultural and recreational activities.

The dance faculty at the University of Iowa, Division of Performing Arts, is committed to your education, and to giving you individual guidance and support. Our BA and BFA curriculums offer studio courses that will challenge you to reach your highest level of achievement.

The performing opportunities are numerous, and you will find that the dance theory courses enrich your understanding of dance. In addition, the arts climate here is an exciting one with a broad spectrum of visiting artists and companies; Division of Performing Arts events; sponsored residencies and master classes from outstanding guest teachers.

What are we looking for in a dance major?

1. Creative students committed to the enrichment of society.
2. Students who have the desire and capability to pursue rigorous physical and intellectual study.
3. Students who exhibit the potential for progress, and who pursue choreographic and performance opportunities.
