THE INTERNET AND ONLINE APOTHEKE AND OTHER WONDERS

My mother takes a lot of different medications for all sorts of health problems. She takes meds for throid, diabetes, high blood pressure, osteoporosis and even takes something for asthma. With the costs of prescriptions going up and up, she is finding it increasingly difficult to pay for her prescriptions which are now costing her upwards of $2000 per month. She is not poor, but she says at this rate she won't be able to afford to live too much longer or she is going to go bankrupt. I went online for her to see if I could find her medications at a cheaper prices and found a great German website that sell discount drugs. The site read:

Brand name drugs at discount prices available through our Apotheke. We offer the very best quality of medications at prices that the average consumer can afford. Shop and compare, and we assure you that our prices are the lowest available on the web. We have trained pharmacists on staff, to insure that your prescriptions are accurate and safe. Online Apotheke is becoming one of the fastest growing services on the web. With the costs of common medications on the rise, why not try our quick and easy Versandapotheke for all your pharmaceutical needs.

Thank goodness I was able to get this translated into English and this is what it said:

Brand name drugs at discount prices available through our Pharmacy. We offer the very best quality of medications at prices that the average consumer can afford. Shop and compare, and we assure you that our prices are the lowest available on the web. We have trained pharmacists on staff, to insure that your prescriptions are accurate and safe. Online Pharmacy is becoming one of the fastest growing services on the web. With the costs of common medications on the rise, why not try our quick and easy Delivery Pharmacy for all your pharmaceutical needs.

Well, the internet is such a wonderful thing. Not only could I find the best possible prices on my mother's medications on the web, but I could also order them from Germany and get the website translated into English and get the currency converted into US currency, all in just a few clicks of the mouse. AMAZING!

SECURITY NEWS LETTER...SECURITY IS BEING BEEFED UP

On campus each month they put out a security news letter, letting everyone what crimes have been committed on the campus over the past few weeks. Sometimes they print up the crime stats for the local area as well, and although we feel like we are safe, when you look at what happened at VT or Columbine you just have to wonder if you are truly safe, or if that is just an illusion. Well, they have beefed up campus security around here a bit of late. I have noticed that they have installed a few more security camera devices around. I don't really know if they are the functioning kind, or the ones that are dummies and just make people think that they are being watched. Either way, I am sure they are a crime deterrent anyway. Now they do have a new alarm monitoring device on some of the buildings on campus for during the off hours. Unfortunately though these really protect the stuff more than the people who are here if you know what I mean. Although I have noticed that they have more on campus security guards than they did last semester, especially on campus at night, which does definitely make everyone feel a bit more secure.

I try not to focus too much on the bad news that is always coming from the television. The stuff about murder, rape, kidnapping, school shootings, and so forth. I do worry about these things sometimes, but I know these things just prove that you must live everyday to the fullest, because you never know when it will end. You must play hard, love hard, and speak your mind, because any day could be your last. If that is the case, then I want to make sure my last day is awesome, and the best way to do that is to make everyday awesome. Then at least when I pass, whenever that is, they will say wow she really knew how to live! That is how I want to be remembered, and not how I died. That is a legacy that no one should have to leave behind.

Bath Products

I have a love for bath products. It seems sill because most things, like bath bombs are used in the tub when you are soaking and relaxing and I am away at college and for the past three years I have either lived in the dorms or had a tiny shower in my apartment or house. But when I go home for breaks and for the summer, I take full advantage of my bath products.

My friends and I make a point to get together before someone's birthday and get a basket of bath and relaxing products in it for them. We will include a gift certificate from all of us to get a massage and then a ton of other stuff, like bath bombs, bath salts, shower gels, a loofah, a stone for your feet and so many other things. It is crazy to think that we are at the age that we are giving each other relaxing gifts, but between work and school and stuff at home and extracurricular activities and clubs and sororities (oh yeah, and trying to get our lives planned out) we need to time sit back and relax.

They honestly do make the best gifts though. We usually get a colored or flavored theme going. Like we did pink for one of my good friends. We found this huge white basket with pink ribbon going all around the handle. Then we filled it with pink and white and gold tissue paper and put the gift certificate for the massage (wrapped in a pink ribbon) in it along with all of the other cute matching stuff we found. We got pink and gold candles that said love and friends on them and then a pink loofah and these pink and white bath bombs and soaps. There is this really cute new bath boutique that opened up by our house that will make the soaps to match or you can pick out the scents and colors. It really is cool.

But then we wrap it all up and make it look cute and pretty and give it to her on her birthday. It really is such a great gift and one that is both fun to get and give because it lasts for a long time and is full of things you normally wouldn't buy for yourself without feeling guilty. And also when we get it for someone we all get to get together and go shopping and get lunch and spend much needed time together.

How old is too old?

The other day I was out lingerie shopping with one of my girlfriends when we saw this older woman (she was probably in her 60's) and she was looking at the same sexy lingerie that we were. It was weird; because you don't want to think about your grandma or even your mom wearing things like that and that woman was probably both to someone.

But then on the way home we were talking about it more. When we get that age does that mean we'll have to stop wearing sexy lingerie or cut our hair short (have you ever seen an older person with long hair)? It just seems so weird to me that one day we will be as old as the woman in that store and someone will probably be looking at us like that. We automatically think granny panties when we see the really big cotton underwear, but to be honest, one day we will be grannies (or at least granny age) and I don't think I would ever wear those.

What other things can't older women do though? It seems like when we see older ladies wearing more revealing clothes or even doing things that we do everyday like kickboxing class or something like that we kind of think to ourselves, “how old is that woman?” It just seems like as a society we put an age limit on things that we think are appropriate or not for women.

I do however think though that we have become much more lenient and I am very lucky to live in society today rather than even just 30 years ago. Women can do things now in general that they couldn't before like be teachers and even vote. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to not be able to vote but my brother could. That idea doesn't even seem serious to a lot of us now even though we know that it once was true.

So I guess we shouldn't tell anyone that they aren't young enough (or the right gender) or put limitations on anyone in anyway because we might be in their shoes someday (like the woman in the lingerie shop) and we definitely wouldn't want someone younger than us pointing that out to us. Age is just a number, it really shouldn't matter.

HEALTH INSURANCE LEADS SAVED ME BIG MONEY

About a month ago, I got online looking for some temporary short term health insurance quotes. When I started looking, I immediately noticed that I started getting e-mails and phone calls about insurance, which was all good, because I was very serious about finding some short term health insurance. After about a week, I made my decision and signed up for a great health insurance policy that was very affordable. After that I continued getting phone calls and e-mails, I even started getting correspondence in the mail. I was speaking to friend of mine and they said that is because when you log onto all those sites about health insurance they pass your information on to insurance agents as health insurance leads. I was okay with it, after all, it was a good way to make sure that my policy was the best for me. I was really surprised however, when I started receiving info about senior auto insurance, because I wasn't a senior citizen and I wasn't even looking for auto insurance. I decided to click on the link to their web site, and actually to my surprise, they offered some really good rates for everyone on this auto insurance site, and so I decided to switch my auto insurance over to this company.

Many people think that insurance leads are a headache, but in my case, they saved me lots of money and now I will be able to go to Florida for Spring Break with the money I saved on my health and auto insurance. It came to almost $1000 per year, and that is an incredible savings.

I have already made my reservation with a couple buddies of mine and I know we are going to have a blast this Spring. One of my friends said that he just can't afford to go with us, but I told him to shop around on his health insurance and car insurance and that he might be able to save some money doing that, and then he will be able to come with us.
