These are the projects that sparked my passion for design. A class called Problems in Design 1: form and structure taught by my mentor Monica Correia challenges students to combine the basic gemometric fundamentals with the repetition of lines, shapes and forms to create unique compositions. For me, this class was inspiring. Some of the origins to my most advanced research projects started there and are still be ing explored today. What makes this class so important is that there is very little computer design involved. The design students are required to use simple materials and techniques that employ critical thinking and problem solving in order to complete their work. And what results is sometimes amazing. I will never under-estimate the creativity of young people. |
