Teaching Experience
As a graduate student, I was given full teaching responsibilities in the following courses
Problems in Design 1: Form and Structure
Spring 2012
This course aims to expose students to 3-dimensional design studio concepts and its relation to aesthetic, structure and material. It intends to provide the necessary knowledge and practical technical skills to allow students to further explore the 3-dimensional creative process. Course activities include lectures, demonstrations, assignments, practical exercises, critiques, presentations and a midterm and final portfolio.
Intro 3D Computer Modeling
Spring 2012 & Spring 2010
Basic knowledge and practical technical skills using 3ds Max studio software; experience creating and manipulating basic forms and working with texture, background, light, and camera viewpoints; basic animation.
Digital Forming
Fall 2011
This is the first ever course in the United States that uses the Brand new 3D Design modeling software Leonar3do. Introduction to process of design; work with 3-D virtual digital tools to create objects and forms printed with rapid prototyping technology; use of Leonar3Do software, 3-D glasses, and a bird device that functions as a mouse to create forms in space; virtual modeling techniques that allow creation and manipulation of shapes in the air; design development on Leonar3Do, improved with 3ds Max, and saved for 3-D printing.
Elements of 3D Design
Fall 2010 & Fall 2011
Introduction to 3-D design using drafting, modeling, and virtual reality software; basic concepts of drafting, planning, and color theory; basic Auto CAD, 3ds Max Studio, Vizard, InDesign software; students design an object to be printed 2-D and 3-D and a conceptual space to be printed 2-D and experienced virtually; student journal and portfolio.
Intro to Virtual Reality for 3D Design
Spring 2011
Introduction to Vizard software; design of virtual 3-D space; translation of environments created in 3ds Max software into Vizard software.
Problems in Design 2: Form and Function
Spring 2011
This class addresses how objects are designed and structured. Also explores modeling, graphic skills necessary for basic project development and exploration of CNC production.
Design Fundamentals
Fall 2009, Spring 2010 & Fall 2010
This entry-level studio course explores two- and three-dimensional concepts of design. The emphasis is on creative thinking and problem solving. Course format consists of informal lectures, open class discussions and workshops, and assignments completed outside of class. Grading is based primarily on a final portfolio, but students are expected to submit projects for review throughout the course. Required materials include drawing tools, paper, and film.
Intro to Computer-Aided Design
Fall 2009
This course introduces the basic principles of 2D/3D computer aided drafting and teaches how to draw accurately plans, elevations and sections for objects and interior spaces using AutoCAD software. Drawing in three dimensions will be introduced. Basic and advanced commands will be taught and used to create professional technical drawings. Examples of Ludwig Mes van der Rohe architecture and design will be used for tutorials and assignment development.
Course activities include lectures, demonstrations, assignments, practical exercises and a midterm and a final digital portfolio (webpage). This course gives the necessary AutoCAD software foundation to students applying for graduate school or jobs in design, architecture or related areas.
