2007 Big Ten Championship Swimming Men's 100 yd Breaststroke
We have had a rough meet thus far. Although we are swimming mostly lifetime bests, we are currently in tenth. We have had one, Dragos Agache, make it back to finals and place third. The video above is him in lane two, as he posts a new school record. The time is a 53.77 as he beats his previous school record. Hopefully we can get back out there and score some more points. today.

Snowy Midwest
Well we were suppose to be in Columbus, Ohio yesterday around 5pm for Men's Big Ten Swimming Championship. In the end the snow came down and it was decided we would leave today. Some of the teams in the Big Ten tried to leave, some were unable to leave due to bus company decisions, some got lost. Half of our group finally made it in around 11pm with only about an hour of delays. The second half of our group is scheduled to end up in the hotel at 4am tomorrow. I don't to even mention it, but that's pretty brutal on the body especially when so much time has been spent on their taper. I'm not sure how much it is going to change a person's time, and I don't there would ever be conclusive evidence, but I imagine everyone will roll with it. It would have been awesome to just end up chartering a flight and make it in an hour and a half from Cedar Rapids, but that just wasn't possible. They have also delayed the meet for a day due to the snow, but that mean's I will miss some of Monday as well. The first group is to leave Monday from the hotel at 4:30am. I guess sometimes you just have to grin and bear it. If you want live results check out OSU's Swimming Page . Also there is a current rendering of the new iowa pool up.

lottery
A follow up note. Thank you. One time when I actually think copyright was in the right.
"Iowa Lottery officials have agreed to stop a promotion that uses a parody of the "Iowa Fight Song" after receiving complaints from the family of composer Meredith Willson, who wrote the song."-press-citizen.com
More lottery ad fallout - Metro
More lottery ad fallout - Metro: "Ultimately, the idea to use the 'Iowa Fight Song' lies with Integer,' Potthoff said on Monday.
The Iowa Lottery paid $14,400 to Hawkeye Sports Properties to use the song, as well as Hawkeye logos, in the commercial, Potthoff said"
Of course there was going to be some fall out. And I have to say no matter how much we were given, it definitely cheapens the image. I mean the lotto? What's next...

Heavy Sleeper? Get Sonic Bomb Alarm Clock with Bed Shaker
"The Sonic Bomb Clock has an adjustable volume alarm with a maximum loudness of 113 decibels (just for reference, a jackhammer is about 100 decibels!) And the bed shaker does just that. Slip it under your mattress and your ears will bleed and your bed will shake, and there is no way you will oversleep."Thinkgeek now has an alarm that I think even I couldn't sleep through. Sometimes I wonder how many hours of sleep I could really take before I am truly rested. I am up to 4 cups of coffee and will find myself one or two diet cokes in about an hour. The after classes back onto a couple cups of coffee or 3-4 cups of tea. I was doing well without the caffeine, but I honestly couldn't make it through 7am classes, practice coverage, classes, and journal articles/review material until 12-1am. Enough whining for one day I guess.
