i am now a quarter century. unfortunately it's finals week meaning no celebration. in fact i don't think i have ever had a birthday without having a final here at the University of Iowa. I also had a dental appointment. In my quarter century of life I have never had a cavity and I'm still holding strong. I think that one may be nature over nuture thus far. i'll keep it short due to the finals and all.

The Car

Hi everyone! This is Shellie blogging today. Today Jon surprised me.............not with a flat screen TV, but by changing his car battery. Apparently, somewhere underneath the computer geek that he is, exists a manly man who knows a little something about cars. I admit, I had my doubts about his abilities based on the "quick" oil change her performed one Friday about two years ago, right before we were headed out for the night..........which started at 6pm and ended at 12am. He did good today, I'm proud and, most importantly, the Jeep lives on!!

i work hard for a living. tonight was the iowa v iowa state swim meet. it was a women's only meet and we ended up killing them. in other news the men's basketball team beat isu as well. good night for the hawks. if we could stay healthy my night would have been golden.

to celebrate the big wins shellie and i went and ate pagliai's. i hadn't eaten it for a long while. probably since allison, shellie's roommate, worked there. it's an old-time pizza parlor. they don't even accept credit cards. it was great food and a great way to wind down a tough day.

The trip to OSU was long very long. The weather was horrendous making travel even worse. The meet itself was very uneventful. There were some great times and it was interesting to see some of the higher level athletes in the sport in both swimming and diving.
When I got back Shellie had a little surprise. A HDtv. How great is she, honestly. We had been discussing getting a new tv, as I had bestbuy gift cards and gift cerificates from the previous years. Well a lot actually, and we didn't think we should spend a ton of money on birthdays and christmas and ... over the next 2 months. Anyway, how awesome is she. It's a Westinghouse 32 inch LCD. I had read the reviews and obviously wasn't looking at a 1080p tv due to the finance. I guess all that time that I'm talking about technology and I think she is doing something else, she was actually listening. It is simply put, amazing. We currently have about 9 HD channels, don't ask me how, but we do for the time being and they look amazing. It's hard to explain. Shellie is pretty close to being a bat (as in the mammal) in terms of sight and even she says it's like night and day. The best quality thus far is PBS highdef channel. Comparing the HD Late Night w/ Letterman to Standard Letterman was nuts.
So in the end, that horrible trip turned out to be a happy ending. Now if every trip turned out like this, I would be in technology heaven.
