we had the beginning of the year set of meetings today. not that today was the beginning of the year meaning january 1st or even the first day of work. it's always a tad boring no matter how hard they try. we cover hipaa, osha, ferpa, and a bunch of other organizations that i only remember the names of 1 month before and after this meeting.
i also got to meet the incoming first year class. they are much different than the first time i came into contact with them which was when they were interviewing for their positions. they seem to be a good group of kids but then again they have only had 2 weeks in the program. we also had the fall bash which has changed dramatically from the 1st one i had been to. this year a couple and their infant sat at our table and asked us about athletic training. not the future of the profession or where we see oursleves in 10 yr but rather what the profession is and what we do in our day to day work. it was a unique way to welcome in the new school year. most of the staff was able to make it to the party which was great as well. all of grad assistants were there which let us interact in a not so professional atmosphere which made for some great conversation. it really should be a great year.
