Program Information

The Educational Leadership program at the University of Iowa offers degrees and licensure for preK-12 school leadership. Three graduate degrees are available: Master of Arts, Specialist, and Doctor of Philosophy in educational administration. We also provide licensure for pre-K-12 principals, superintendents, and special education administrators. We welcome students from other disciplines who are interested in pursuing administrative licensure or would like to enroll in our courses as electives. Our program is designed for working professionals. Most of our students are practicing teachers pursuing the M.A. and principal licensure or practicing administrators pursuing an advanced degree and superintendent licensure. Classes are offered in the evening during the regular academic year and during the six-week summer session so that students can complete their degrees and licensure while working.
