The Chinese Reading World consists of 900 reading lessons, 90 achievement tests, and 15 proficiency tests with many other features. This web-based extensive reading program targets three groups: (a) students who are taking college Chinese courses at beginning, intermediate, or advanced levels; (b) high school students who are learning Chinese and wish to improve their reading skills or to practice reading for College Board Advanced Placement (AP) Chinese exams; and (c) individuals who work in government agencies or private organizations wish to learn to read and improve their reading skills in a systematic way. This site is free to all users.

This project consists of two learning programs: Chinese Character Learning
Program and Japanese Kanji Learning Program for beginning and intermediate
learners. The Chinese Character Learning Program enables students practice
and use newly introduced characters in various ways by interacting with
the computer. Features of this project include animated stroke order
and radicals for characters; audio-supported interactive vocabulary
quizzes; and audio-supported interactive exercises at the phrase, sentence,
and paragraph level.
