Instructor: Brad Dicharry This course is a continuation after graphic design one, using typography as a primary element in design. Throughout the semester we worked with organizational, traditional, and creative aspects of designing with type, while examining typohraphic history, contemporary applications, and style. The focus is on the organizational and creative aspects of designing with type, and on the development of the necessary technical skills. Early on in the semester, we took a trip to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, for the Printer's Fair. It was a wonderful history lesson on type. We met people that have dedicated their whole lives to the classic lead-block printing you see in the photo. Here's a link to their website if you would like to learn more too: http://oldthreshers.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=page.printersHall In the thumbnails below you will find images from the projects in the table above. |
