Adult SS News - In today's elective class, Evie & Wallace Shellenberger will give more information and reflections about their recent study and ministry in Iran. All are welcome - be prepared to entertain perspectives not found in typical news media. There will be opportunity for questions and discussion.

Global Concerns
From Mission Network:: Pray for Neal Blough who will be traveling from the Paris Mennonite Center to the Theological Seminary Bienenberg in Switzerland to teach courses Thurs. through Sat. of the coming week. Pray also for the French & Swiss pastors who are deepening their knowledge through this continuing education program.
Sonia and I value the many ways the congregation expresses their appreciation for pastoral care and ministry. Thank you for prayers, thoughts, cards, and gifts during pastor appreciation month and throughout the year that encourage me in ministry at East Union. You are always in our prayers.
Thank you for all the cards, meals, visits & prayers the past two months. It‘s good to belong to such a caring church family. God bless you all.

November 8th - Roger & Mary Lou Farmer from Washington, IA will give a visual presentation of the European Anabaptist Study Tour in which they participated last spring. There will be time for questions and discussion as well.
November 15th, 22nd, & 29th - Sermon Discussion elective in Room #53 led by John Niemeyer.
Mennonite Women’s project for the Nov. 3 meeting are items for the Kalona Food Pantry. We invite you in the congregation to participate if you wish. A table will be in the foyer for the next several Sundays to place items. Any food and paper products are needed.
Crooked Creek Christian Camp announces its annual fall business meeting on Thursday, November 12 for all SIMCA members and interested persons. Soup supper will be served from 6:15 – 6:45 with meeting at 7 p.m. Come to learn about camp and what happens there throughout the year.
Pathway Christian School's annual Senior Class Haystack Supper is Friday, November 13, from 5:00-8:00pm. Meal is served on donation basis. No tickets needed--everyone welcome.

Have a passion for helping others? Your willingness to volunteer at the Crowded Closet thrift store in Iowa City, allows us to support Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) “a ministry of Mennonite and Brethren in Christ churches that demonstrates God's love to people in the midst of conflict, oppression, poverty and disasters” (MCC.org, 2009). Current volunteer needs include seasonal positions setting up Christmas displays; work for all skill levels (men & women). Come by yourself and meet new people or bring a car load of friends -- Monday November 2, Thursday November 5, Friday November 13 from 5:30 to??; or Saturday November 14, 9:30 -4:30. We are also in need of friendly, detailed individuals willing to cashier at least once a month Monday through Saturday. Gentlemen, do you enjoy sprucing up furniture or tinkering with electronics, are you willing to share your muscle for furniture pick-ups or deliveries? The meeting times are as follows: Sunday AM at 9:00; Sunday afternoon 1:30 to 3:00 open mike Question and Answers; Sunday evening at 6:00; Monday evening at 7:00.

Sunday, November 15, 3:30-5:15 p.m., “Marriage in the Retirement Years,” seminar led by John and Naomi Lederach at Kalona Mennonite Church. This seminar will focus on how to have a fulfilling marriage in the retirement years of life. This seminar is also for those who will soon be approaching retirement. John and Naomi have been involved in a lifetime of teaching, preaching, and marriage counseling. There is no cost to this seminar.

Central Committee Increases Asia Disasters Appeal
In response to the needs of flooding and earthquake survivors in
Asia, MCC is increasing its appeal for donations to $250,000. The additional
contributions will allow MCC and its partners to respond to extensive flooding
damage in southern India and Cambodia and to provide permanent housing for
people in Indonesia, where earthquakes devastated entire villages. Please
