Mennonite Women’s project for the Nov. 3 meeting are items for ht Kalona Food Pantry.  We invite you in the congregation to participate if you wish.  A table will be in the foyer for the next several Sundays to place items.  Any food and paper products are needed.

 

Get your feather or foam pillows cleaned, sanitized, deodorized & NEW TICKING on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 from 8:30 a.m.—4:00 p.m. at Kalona Mennonite Church. Sponsored by the Kalona Mennonite WMSC.

 

Tickets are available for the IMS production of The Wizard of Oz, set for Friday and Saturday, November 6 and 7 (7:00 p.m.), and Sunday, November 8 (2:30 p.m.).  Please contact the IMS office for ticket prices and to reserve seating for the performances.  The show will feature 48 IMS students and additional 8-13-year-olds from the community as munchkins. 

 

Please know that all are invited to attend chapel services at IMS at any time.  With the exception of 'small group' chapels, the services are open to the public, and typically begin at approximately 9:45 a.m.  Chapels for the coming week include (Monday) Introduction to Gentleness; (Thursday) Daniel Martin, pastoral intern at Kalona Mennonite Church; and (Friday) student involvement.  There is no chapel on Tuesday, and Wednesday's chapel time will be spent in small groups.  Please contact the school office with questions and to confirm specific times and topics.  Chapel is an important part of the school day on the IMS campus.

 

Kalona Mennonite MYF Fundraiser Meal:  Soup, tossed salad, bread and our famous dessert bar.  Sunday, November 1st at noon at Kalona Mennonite Church.

 

Have a passion for helping others? Your willingness to volunteer at the Crowded Closet thrift store in Iowa City, allows us to support Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) “a ministry of Mennonite and Brethren in Christ churches that demonstrates God's love to people in the midst of conflict, oppression, poverty and disasters” (MCC.org, 2009).  Current volunteer needs include seasonal positions setting up Christmas displays; work for all skill levels (men & women).   Come by yourself and meet new people or bring a car load of friends -- Monday November 2, Thursday November 5, Friday November 13 from 5:30 to??; or Saturday November 14, 9:30 -4:30. We are also in need of friendly, detailed individuals willing to cashier at least once a month Monday through Saturday. Gentlemen, do you enjoy sprucing up furniture or tinkering with electronics, are you willing to share your muscle for furniture pick-ups or deliveries?  Call the Crowded Closet 319-337-5924 or Karen Schrock, volunteer coordinator, 319-656-5274 to see how you can share your time and talent to support MCC!!
