We are looking forward to another successful year at the Pleasantview Benefit Sale! We are asking again for your help in donating cookies for the “Cookie Walk”. We have received so many positive comments on the varieties of cookies donated and are excited to see what this year brings. The “Cookie Walk” will take place at the Kalona Sale Barn on Sat., Oct. 24, from 9 am to 11 am. We ask that you bring your cookies to Sunnyside Church the evening before between 4 and 9 p.m. as there is little space at the Sale Barn to store the many dozens that will be donated.
Mennonite Central Committee is appealing for an initial $100,000 to assist people in Asia whose homes and lives were devastated by recent earthquakes and flooding. Indonesia was struck by two earthquakes on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. In the Philippines and Vietnam, communities are dealing with the aftermath of Typhoon Ketsana. MCC is responding with immediate shelter, food and other emergency supplies to people in Indonesia and the Philippines; and longer-term recovery needs in Vietnam. Please donate to MCC's Asia Disasters appeal online at mcc.org or by sending checks to MCC Central States PO Box 235 North Newton, KS 67117 (designate Asia Disasters in the memo line).
