Integrating Lesson Study for Preservice and In-service Teachers

Session description:
Lesson study brings teachers together for the purpose of studying and reflecting on the content of lessons and nature of students’ learning. Traditional approaches to professional development focus on what a teacher does; lesson study ultimately focuses on what students are learning. The presenters will report on research to create a model that engages preservice teachers in lesson study during their methods course-work, as well as to create the infrastructure to support lesson study at both the university and local school level.
