I am currently a third year MFA candidate in Lighting Design through the Theatre Arts Deparment, and I will be graduating this coming May 2009. I have lit many theatrical performances as well as many dance concerts. I am particularly interested in dance lighting because I feel it is the most freeing format to work in. You can concentrate on the dancer's body and the mood of the piece.
I am taking the Environmental Design course in order to expand my design vocabulary and to open up the way I look at things around me. I feel this course will inform the way I communicate with directors and choreographers in the future. My design aesthetic has been advanced through working with recycled and sustainable materials. I hope to continue to incorporate what I have learned in this class into the work I will continue to do in the Theatre Arts Department and beyond.
