Bryn grew up in Waterloo, IA and currently resides in Iowa City. She plans to graduate from the University of Iowa with a BFA in Printmaking and BA in Cello Performance in May, 2011.
Just as you might read a word—perhaps a word you have known for nearly your whole life, that you have read millions of times before—and suddenly realize how mysterious it sounds, and how odd it looks, I find myself fascinated by the way a familiar object becomes strange when taken in isolation, or may acquire fresh meaning when placed in an unexpected context. I find a particular humor in these moments, and this is a starting point for much of my work.
