Traveling to Iowa City

 

            Flying to Iowa City:

 

                        The closest airport to Iowa City is the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids (CID), which is about 20 miles north of Iowa City. There are two shuttles from the Eastern Iowa Airport to Iowa City.

 

 

            Free Transportation from the Airport to Iowa City

 

                        We will be providing shuttle vans between the Eastern Iowa Airport in Cedar Rapids and the Sheraton Hotel in Iowa City.  The schedule for shuttle service is Thursday (11/3), 12pm-8pm, Friday (11/4), 8am-12pm, and Sunday (11/6), 5am-3pm.  If your arrivals or departures do not fall within these windows, you will be responsible for your own transportation (see below for more information).  If you would like to take advantage of the free shuttle service, please send an email message to Eric Manning at eric-manning@uiowa.edu with the subject heading “Peace Science Shuttle”.  Please let him know which airline(s) you are flying on, your flight numbers, and times of arrival/departure.  We will be in touch later on with more details. 

 

            Other forms of transportation from Airport to Iowa City

 

The first is the Airport Shuttle Service (1-800-725-8460). They charge $28 (one way) and $51 (round trip). They are located within the airport and while it is recommended that you make a reservation ahead of time, you can also get a shuttle after you arrive at Cedar Rapids.

 

The second is Airport Express (1-800-383-2219). They charge $26 (one way) and $47 (round trip). They are not located within the airport so you will have to make reservations ahead of time. 

 

There are also taxis that will take you from the airport to Iowa City. They generally charge about $45 (one way).

 

There are four rental car companies on site (Hertz, Avis, National, and Enterprise). Driving from the Eastern Iowa Airport to Iowa City is fairly straightforward and will take about 30 minutes. Click here for directions

 

Flying into Moline:

 

The Quad City airport (MLI) in Moline, Illinois is a little over 64 miles east from Iowa City. Airport Express also provides service from MLI to Iowa City. They charge $63 (one way). There are also several rental car companies at the Quad City airport
